FRIDAY 15th july 2016
elephant in the room + fern teather
Elephant in the Room is the evolution of the musings of one bloke who played bass in a prog rock band ages ago then had a 30 year break before deciding to write his own music !!
Carl Scott joined forces with Fern Teather on guitar and Sam Thurlow on percussion in 2013 and have performed as an acoustic trio around East Anglia and London since then.
Their debut EP ‘Roomers’ was released late that year and the first album due for release very soon
For more info on the band visit : http://www.elephantintheroommusic.com/
It's a bit of a double header as Fern and Sam will be kicking the evening off as a duo.
Fern Teather is a full time singer-songwriter, and draws from her love of reading and her quirky take on life’s more reflective moments to pen lyrics and melodies so expressive that when she sings them, they send shivers down your spine! Inspired by bands and artists such as Laura Marling, The Staves, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and many more, Fern pulls on her eclectic taste in music to create her own unique “folk-edged Americana” sound.
Her new album "Hiding in the Dark" features 11 original songs, written and arranged by Fern over the past two years. The inspiring collection explores life in all its guises; friendships, relationships, hope, reflection, taking risks and living in the moment are all tackled with a finesse that belies Fern’s age, and is guaranteed to hold the audience spellbound in a wash of emotions and mind pictures. In fern’s words, she writes her songs to “celebrate life’s ‘ups’ and deal with life’s ‘downs’”.
